Implementing Industry 4.0 and Digital Twins is not an easy task. There are a lot of different concepts and standards that need to be considered for a successful implementation. For tackling this challenge, utilizing existing tools and off-the-shelf components is key. Eclipse BaSyx is an open-source middleware for Industry 4.0 that provides exactly this off-the-shelf components. Additionally, it provides multiple SDKs that can be leveraged for realizing custom-tailored solutions using state-of-the-art concepts like the Asset Administration Shell. Thus, BaSyx enables companies to easily implement Industry 4.0.

The FASTEN project is developing an intelligent software package management system that will enhance robustness and security in software ecosystems. FASTEN addresses the operational and compliance risks associated with dependencies on networks of external open source software libraries. To solve these issues, FASTEN introduces a fine-grained tracking of dependencies on the method-level, on top of existing dependency management networks. FASTEN support Java, Python and C and integrates with the main package managers of PyPi, Debian, and Maven.
